Brahim Diaz is one of the few players to have joined the Real Madrid squad for the upcoming season, despite returning from a loan stint at AC Milan.
The former Manchester City prodigy has not played a significant role for Real Madrid this season, but he remains a promising option for head coach Carlo Ancelotti.
The presence of Real Madrid’s Brahim Diaz has not gone unobserved by Morocco coach Walid Regragui, who is keeping a careful watch on the teenager.
Morocco hopes to persuade Diaz.
According to AS, Regragui attended the most recent match between Real Madrid and Real Sociedad at the Santiago Bernabeu.
The player participated in the game’s final few minutes and made the most of it, notably creating a late opportunity for Jude Bellingham.
Regragui is aware of Diaz’s potential, and since the player is of Moroccan descent, the 47-year-old coach is eager to persuade him to play for the North African powerhouses.
Diaz’s worldwide career to date
Brahim Diaz has been an integral part of Spain’s minor teams and has scored two goals for the U21s.
In 2021, the maestro represented the senior Spanish national team and even scored a goal as a result of his impressive loan term at AC Milan.
Since then, however, Brahim Diaz has not summoned him up, and his prospects appear dim, particularly if the Real Madrid prodigy continues to struggle for playing time.
With the Africa Cup of Nations 2024 only a few months away, Morocco hopes to convince Diaz to represent the country rather than Spain.
Even though the Malaga native made his Spain debut in 2021, he is still eligible to transfer national teams. It will be intriguing to see if the youthful player dons the Moroccan jersey in the near future.
