- Mbappe sent PSG to the top if Ligue 1 with a hat-trick against Reims on Saturday
- French World Cup winner is widely expected to join Real Madrid on a free transfer next year
- Los Blancos recently distanced themselves from public speculation
Kylian Mbappe says he doesn’t want to add “fuel to the fire” by discussing another tumultuous summer transfer in which he was extensively connected with moves to Real Madrid and the Saudi Pro League.
The France international has long been a goal for Los Blancos, and he is now in his sixth season with PSG, with his current deal set to expire next summer.
Madrid recently refuted rumors that they were in talks with Mbappe about a possible move in 2024, but the World Cup winner is still strongly favored to join the 14-time European winners on a free transfer.
Mbappe notified PSG by letter this summer that he would not be renewing his contract at Parc des Princes, resulting in his absence from the club’s tour of Japan and South Korea. He also missed PSG’s season opener before being reintegrated.
The 24-year-old has now scored 13 goals in 11 Ligue 1 games, including a hat-trick in Saturday’s 3-0 victory over Reims, and has also struck twice in the Champions League, with Luis Enrique’s side sitting second in Group F.
“Have I made peace with my summer?” “The most important thing is to play football, and you [the media] take care of the rest,” Mbappe told Prime Video.
“I don’t want to add fuel to the fire by talking about it.” “I believe there is already far too much talk.”
90min believes Mbappe is willing to forego a large loyalty payment by leaving PSG. He turned down the chance to leave when Saudi Pro League club Al Hilal made a world-record €300 million (£259 million) offer in the summer. He refused to entertain Middle Eastern interest.
Mbappe will be hoping to add another Ligue 1 championship to his collection before what is likely to be another eventful summer next year, with PSG now a point clear of Nice at the top of the French top flight.
In Spain, Real Madrid is second in La Liga, with Jude Bellingham’s goals dominating headlines around Europe.
