Real Madrid are ardently pursuing the signature of LOSC Lille defender Leny Yoro heading into the summer transfer window.
The 18-year-old French defensive prodigy is being sought as a replacement for Nacho Fernandez, who has left the club, leaving Carlo Ancelotti with just three senior centre-backs in Eder Militao, Antonio Rudiger, and David Alaba.
Yoro has been on Real Madrid’s radar for a long while, and the club have been working on his signing for some time.
If there were any doubts about the youngster, a club legend has come forward to dispel them and convince the Merengues to sign him up.
Zinedine Zidane urges Real Madrid to not miss out on Yoro
Indeed, according to reports in Spain (h/t Liverpool Echo), Real Madrid legend and former manager Zinedine Zidane has urged Florentino Perez to ensure that the club sign Leny Yoro.
As has already been reported, the 18-year-old is one of the most in-demand players heading into the summer, with top clubs across Europe gunning for his signing apart from Real Madrid.
PSG have shown a strong interest and have been working on the deal since January while more recently Liverpool entered the picture and remain intent on his capture.
Amidst this, Zidane is believed to have insisted on the signing of Yoro during a meeting with Real Madrid president Perez.
The club legend is said to believe that the French teenager has great quality and can make an immediate impact in the first-team setup, and as such, has told Perez to ensure that his signing is in the bag.
Yoro wants Real Madrid
Even though he has some other clubs interested, Yoro has his heart set on a summer transfer to Real Madrid. In fact, if reports are to be believed, there is an agreement in principle between the player and the club.
However, the negotiations between the Merengues and Yoro’s club, Lille, are not progressing as smoothly as hoped.
The Ligue 1 outfit is demanding in excess of €50 million for their asset, but Los Blancos do not intend to go above the €40 million mark.
