Real Madrid forward Vinicius Jr. has finally addressed his feelings after finishing second in the 2024 Ballon d’Or voting.
It must be noted that many expected Vinicius to win the award, given his outstanding contributions to Real Madrid’s successful Champions League and La Liga campaigns last season.
However, the decision went in Rodri’s favour, leaving Vinicius and his fans surprised and disappointed.
Vinicius breaks silence
Vinicius chose to share his thoughts through social media after the ceremony held in Paris, expressing his determination to push forward despite the unexpected result.
Known for his confidence and resilience, he made it clear he would continue striving, hinting that this minor setback would not derail his ambitions.
“I’ll do it 10x if I have to. They’re not ready,” he wrote on his social media.
His message was received as a sign that he is already focused on the next season, ready to prove himself again.
Boycotting the event
Interestingly, Vinicius, along with other Real Madrid nominees, decided not to attend the Paris event. The absence of these key figures was notable, especially given Vinicius’s strong contention for the award.
Many saw this as a form of protest, likely a reflection of frustration within the Real Madrid camp over the Ballon d’Or results.
Real Madrid may not have seen Vinicius lift the Ballon d’Or trophy, but the club did not walk away empty-handed.
The club was recognised with the “Men’s Club of the Year” title, acknowledging their achievements over the season, while manager Carlo Ancelotti was named “Best Men’s Coach.”
Protesting the result
Meanwhile, outside the Theatre du Chatelet last night, fans gathered in droves, showing their support for Vinicius by chanting his name and voicing their disapproval of the voting outcome.
These fans were determined to make a statement, letting the event organisers know that they believed Vinicius deserved the award.
The chants grew louder as supporters rallied in a show of solidarity, demonstrating the immense admiration and respect that Vinicius has earned among Madrid’s fan base.
