Real Madrid are eyeing a place in the quarterfinal of the UEFA Champions League as they take on RB Leipzig this midweek.
Coming on the back of a 1-0 win in the first leg, Real Madrid are in an advantageous position and even avoiding a defeat could help them seal a place in the next round.
However, even if Real Madrid secure a victory this midweek, some of their players must approach this game with caution.
Two Real Madrid players risk suspension in quarterfinals
That is because two of the Real Madrid stars are heading into the Leipzig game with the risk of a potential suspension in the quarterfinals.
The players in question are Jude Bellingham and Eduardo Camavinga. Both players have picked up two yellow cards in the UCL, and a third could rule them out of the next game.
That means a booking for either of them against Leipzig this midweek could rule them out of the first leg of the quarterfinal, provided Real Madrid do qualify.
Bellingham, for his part, is already awaiting a final verdict on his suspension, after he was handed a red card against Valencia, although Real Madrid are set to appeal, in an attempt to overturn his red card.
Real Madrid, therefore, cannot afford to have Bellingham miss out on the first leg of the quarterfinal.
The same stands for Camavinga, who picked up yellow cards during the group stage matches against Napoli and Braga.
The Frenchman has been a crucial outlet in Carlo Ancelotti’s starting eleven this season and his versatility could prove to be critical in these latter stages of the campaign.
It must be noted that this cycle of yellow cards will be over once the quarterfinal stage ends, meaning Bellingham and Camavinga will have to avoid bookings in the next few matches in order to avoid suspensions.
