Luis Figo, a former great player for Real Madrid and a club icon, recently made an appearance in front of the media and spoke highly of the experienced midfielder Luka Modric.
The legendary Portuguese player who played at the top level for his country praised the current superstar for the manner he continues to defy aging and continue to produce at the best level.
In spite of the fact that he turned 38 years old earlier this month, Modric is still a top-tier player for both his club and his nation.
Although it is true that his position has been somewhat reduced so far this season, the midfielder displayed his class and talent in the game that was played against Getafe just before the break for international competition.
Figo also had some really kind things to say about Modric when he was interviewed by RTL. Here are some of the things he had to say:
“Luka is a wonderful friend, and I cannot speak highly enough of him, not just in his professional capacity, but also in terms of who he is as a person.
Because of the skill he consistently demonstrates, it is incredible what he is able to do at such a young age; it is almost as if he is powered by batteries. It makes me glad to know that he is successful in doing what he enjoys, and I have high hopes for his future accomplishments.
The former Real Madrid and Barcelona hero was then asked to select between his countrymen and another Los Blancos icon, Cristiano Ronaldo, and Modric, to which he replied: “If I had to choose between the two, I would go with Modric.”
“They are unique, and they are very close friends; because of this, I cannot choose between them because then one of them would suffer a loss.” They have written history and are still writing history, which is the most important thing, and they are the finest in the world at what they do.
In the beginning of this year, Modric extended his stay with Real Madrid by signing a new deal that would keep him with the club for one more year.
However, things have not gotten off to a good start for the Croatian, as he has been forced to take a seat on the bench more often than not, which is a circumstance that has not pleased him in the least.
Despite this, the 38-year-old is unwavering in his determination to turn things around at the Santiago Bernabeu in the coming weeks.
