According to a report by German Bona in SPORT, there is growing concern among Rodrygo’s representatives about his future at Real Madrid, especially with the potential arrival of Kylian Mbappe.
Rodrygo’s agents are worried that he might lose his spot in the starting lineup if Mbappe joins the team. As a result, they are considering moving him to another club if he becomes less prominent in the squad next season.
It is said that although Rodrygo is currently focused on his performance in Copa America, he is also aware of his standing at Real Madrid. Both he and his representatives are uncertain about his ability to remain a regular starter after Mbappe’s potential arrival.
Last season, despite being overshadowed by Vinicius Jr. and Jude Bellingham, Rodrygo managed to score 17 goals and provide two assists.
Now, Real Madrid have tried to reassure him by emphasising their confidence in him, but neither Rodrygo nor his team is entirely convinced.
One argument Real Madrid have made is that Joselu’s departure to Qatar might allow Mbappe to play as a central forward, leaving one of the wing positions open for Rodrygo.
Rodrygo is concerned but keeping his options open
Rodrygo has reasonable concerns about his playing time next season. This is especially true considering that Carlo Ancelotti will need to accommodate the rising talent of Arda Güler in his second season.
Additionally, Brahim Diaz is expected to play a more significant role, further complicating Rodrygo’s situation.
Given these circumstances, Rodrygo and his team are keeping an eye on opportunities in the Premier League.
The Brazilian forward is well-regarded there, and several teams are interested in him. Initially, there were rumours about Liverpool, followed by interest from Manchester City. He has also been linked to Newcastle and Arsenal.
In the case of Arsenal, the club is not in a hurry. They are willing to wait patiently for either Rodrygo or Real Madrid to make a move.
Arsenal understand that Rodrygo might push for an exit if he feels sidelined, or that Real Madrid might decide to offload him to avoid potential issues.
