Opportunities abroad are seen as vital steps for development, with an array of young Real Madrid talents being sent out on loan to hone their craft.
Even in the case of permanent transfers, Real Madrid tends to retain some rights in case they want to reunite with their academy products.
After all, the fierce competition in the first team is known to halt the chances of growth for youngsters.
Alaves interested in Real Madrid youth midfielder
Now The Athletic (h/t RM4Arab) have come out to report that Alaves are interested in recruiting one of Real Madrid B’s midfielders on loan to Roma, Julen Jon Guerrero.
A portion of the player’s rights will be retained upon transfer, but the Merengues do not anticipate receiving any money considering the player’s contract expires this summer.
Julen Jon has not featured much for Roma’s under-19 team this season, with the player yet to start since the campaign began.
As such, Real Madrid will be in favor of seeing him acquire more playtime, even if Alaves end up acquiring him for free.
Julen Jon, who was born in Bilbao, Spain, began his professional career with Malaga before moving to Real Madrid in 2017.
Despite being a midfielder, he has scored goals for Los Blancos’ youth teams on numerous occasions, most notably in eight straight games during the 2020–21 campaign.
The 19-year-old prospect is the son of legendary Athletic Bilbao player and former Spanish international football player Julen Guerrero and thus his development will be followed closely by Real Madrid.
Julen Jon also has international experience, playing for Spain’s under-15, under-16, and under-18 squads.
