After defeating Borussia Dortmund by a score of 2-0 in the Champions League final on Saturday, Real Madrid has achieved a record-breaking 15th victory in the competition. Los Blancos were the big favorites to win the showpiece event of this season, which took place at Wembley Stadium. They ultimately lived up to their billing by winning the match in London, playing inside themselves for extended periods of the evening. After defeating Atletico Madrid in the quarterfinals and then Paris Saint-Germain in the semifinals, BVB was an improbable finalist. However, they were unable to pull off another surprise and ended up suffering a heartbreaking loss. During the first half, Karim Adeyemi and Niclas Fullkrug missed out on tremendous opportunities for Dortmund, and they were forced to regret their inability to capitalize on their opportunities in front of the goal. Dani Carvajal scored the game-winning goal for Madrid in the middle of the second half by heading in a corner kick from Toni Kroos. This was Kroos’s first Champions League goal in five years. Real Madrid was a touch lucky to go into halftime with a score of 0-0 as BVB had played well throughout the first 45 minutes of the match.

Kroos recently revealed his intention to retire from the Madrid team after the conclusion of the Euro 2024 tournament, and it turned out to be his last significant deed as a player for the club. It was his last game for the club, along with Nacho Fernandez, who was also the captain, and Marco Reus, who was making his last appearance for Dortmund, came off the bench.

There were just under ten minutes left in the match when Vinicius Junior scored a goal after Ian Maatsen had given up possession at the back in a fashion that was much too easy. This goal put an end to the match and ensured that Madrid would win another Champions League.

An offside flag prevented Dortmund from regaining the lead late in the game, despite the fact that Fullkrug seemed to have scored for them. When it came to regaining their footing in the competition, it was the closest the Bundesliga team really came.

After finishing top in La Liga and reclaiming the Spanish championship from their rivals Barcelona, Madrid has now completed a remarkable double by winning the match at Wembley. Additionally, they have been victorious in the Champions League on six separate occasions during the course of the last ten years, including two of the most recent three years.
