Real Madrid are keeping their eyes on a plethora of young and upcoming footballers across the globe, one of whom happens to be Lille’s teenage defender Leny Yoro.
Just 18 years of age, Yoro has become a first-team regular for Lille and made a big impression in Ligue 1 this season, featuring 14 times and even scoring two goals.
Real Madrid see Yoro as the next Varane
As per Santi Aouna of Foot Mercato, Real Madrid are very interested in signing Leny Yoro, with the idea being to mould the 18-year-old centre-back into the next Raphael Varane.
Real Madrid signed Varane from France at a very young age and turned him into a world-beater as he went on to win almost every possible trophy with the club, etching his name in the Merengues’ folklore.
And, the Spanish capital club seem to see similar potential in Yoro and wish to turn him into the next Varane by signing him from Lille.
PSG stepping up competition
However, PSG stand as a major hurdle in Real Madrid’s way as the Ligue 1 champions are also very much keen on signing Yoro.
Les Parisiens are keeping a close eye on Yoro’s development and are not giving up after he caught the attention of club director Luis Campos.
As such, PSG are determined to move quickly and secure the transfer as soon as possible, in order to beat off the competition from not only Real Madrid but also Bayern Munich.
Lille, for their part, are trying to extend Yoro’s contract, but would consider a sale for a starting price of €50 million.
With PSG establishing informal contacts with the defender’s entourage, Real Madrid will have their task cut out in their bid to sign the next Varane.
