Lucas Vazquez is one of the players facing an uncertain future at Real Madrid, ahead of a potential squad overhaul next summer.
The versatile Spaniard’s contract at the Santiago Bernabeu expires at the end of the season, leading many to speculate on his future going forward.
No update on contract talks
Lucas Vazquez has been a part of Real Madrid first team for almost eight and a half years. During this period, he has featured in 330 competitive matches for Los Blancos.
Vazquez’s versatility and work ethic have been critical for Real Madrid’s success over the years, with the player notably winning four Champions League titles.
However, as reported by Jose Felix Diaz (h/t RM4Arab), Vazquez continues to face an uncertain future at Real Madrid, as the club have issued no update on the player’s contract talks.
There have been no talks held over a potential renewal for the Spaniard, whose contract expires in the summer of 2024.
Vazquez wants to continue
Lucas Vazquez, for his part, has no desire to leave Santiago Bernabeu. He wants to fight for his place in the team and earn a renewal by the end of the season.
The former Espanyol starlet has played a bit-part role for Los Blancos this season. He has featured in 14 league matches, but only four of them have been starting appearances.
Within the club, though, there is great satisfaction in the right-back position, thanks to the presence of Vazquez and Dani Carvajal.
Not to mention, Real Madrid have shown more interest in signing a left-back, which could play in the hands of Vazquez as he seeks a contract renewal.
