Jude Bellingham sustained a shoulder dislocation while playing for Real Madrid against Rayo Vallecano earlier this month. The match took place early in the month.
The issue was not considered to be a significant one; but, it did result in the midfielder, who is 20 years old, missing games against SC Braga and Valencia. Additionally, he did not participate in any of England’s matches during the holiday break for international competition.
In the La Liga match that took place over the weekend, Bellingham made his comeback to play for Los Blancos, and he even contributed with a goal to the team’s victory.
It was followed up by yet another outstanding effort against Napoli last night, which culminated in a goal and an assist for the team.
Operation is being considered by Bellingham
It is possible that Bellingham has returned to play and made significant contributions; nevertheless, the shoulder injury that the Real Madrid star has been experiencing has not yet been totally resolved.
According to Mario Cortegana of The Athletic, the Englishman, who is twenty years old, and the club are making considerations on the potential of him getting surgery in order to resolve the problematic situation.
According to the source, there is a significant possibility that Bellingham would, in fact, have surgical intervention in order to get rid of the shoulder trouble he is experiencing. This is despite the fact that a final decision has not yet been taken.
According to the report, the midfielder played with shoulder protection versus Cadiz over the weekend, and there were certain instances in which he seemed to be experiencing some difficulty.
Due to this, the potential of surgery is very much on the table; however, there is no specific schedule that has been established for the same.
The Athletic was informed by a member of the medical staff that the first plan of action is to provide conservative therapy; nevertheless, the source said that “once a shoulder is out, the player will feel pain, and this pain typically does not repair itself.”
In addition, the source said that Bellingham will most certainly have surgery at some point in the future, but he emphasized that he could “wait a day, a week, a season, or longer” before undergoing the procedure. To continue, they said, “You are able to live with it for as long as you are able to deal with it.” If such is the case, you will need to function.
Surgery will be performed on Brahim Diaz.
It is interesting to note that Brahim Diaz, who is Bellingham’s teammate at Real Madrid, also had a shoulder dislocation earlier in the season, in September.
The Spaniard, who is 24 years old, has continued to play despite the problem; but, according to the source, the Spaniard is scheduled to have surgery after the season is done. This will allow him to heal without missing any games.
However, it is important to keep in mind that Bellingham will be required to represent England at the UEFA Euro 2024. This is something that has to be taken into account. It is still unknown if Bellingham will pursue the same route.
