Speaking in an interview with OK Diario, Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois has claimed that he is ‘200% ready’ to play in the UEFA Champions League final against Borussia Dortmund on Saturday.
Courtois spent the first nine months of the season out on the sidelines after rupturing his ACL before the campaign began.
The Belgian shot-stopper made his return towards the final phase of the season and has done well in the few matches he has played.
However, in his absence, Andriy Lunin had done an excellent job in goal, playing an integral role in Real Madrid’s success.
But all signs point towards Courtois getting the nod against Dortmund at Wembley, and he is ready for the task.
“First of all, Ancelotti decides [who plays]. And if I play, I feel very good, at my top. I’m ready 200%,” said Courtois.
When asked if it would be fair on Lunin if he plays instead of the Ukrainian, Courtois replied: “I can’t say if it’s unfair or not.”
“What I know is that he has had a great season and if we are in the final it is partly because of him (Lunin). I am at Ancelotti’s disposal and I have worked for nine months to get back to my usual self. It’s up to the coach to decide,” he added.
Following his return from injury, Courtois played in four La Liga matches and managed to keep a clean sheet in each of those games.
While it will not be known until the day of the game, as things stand, he appears the likeliest to get the nod ahead of Lunin on Saturday.
