David Alaba has witnessed a significant change of fortunes, as far as his status as Real Madrid is concerned.
Not long ago, the Austrian was regarded as one of the key defensive prospects for the Spanish giants. But his irregular performances have led to the club considering a potential sale in the transfer market.
Real Madrid set €60 million price tag for Alaba
According to a report from Diario SPORT, Real Madrid have even set a €60 million price-tag on David Alaba, marking a drastic change of outlook, as far as the club’s perspective on the player is concerned.
As mentioned earlier, Real Madrid have been alarmed by Alaba’s poor form recently, with the Austrian making a series of errors that have cost the club several points.
The absence of star defender Eder Militao has also left Carlo Ancelotti with limited options in the defensive unit. As a result, the club are ready to consider the exit of Alaba, for a fair price at least.
The versatile defender joined Real Madrid in 2021 on a free transfer. Despite being 31, Alaba is rated highly, particularly because of his versatility and experience at the highest level.
No shortage of suitors
Needless to say, David Alaba has no shortage of suitors in the market. It was earlier reported that Saudi Arabian giants Al Ittihad had tabled an offer for the Austrian to reunite with his former teammate Karim Benzema.
Now, Diario SPORT suggests that the likes of Manchester United and Juventus have emerged as potential destinations for the former Bayern Munich superstar.
Even Al Ittihad have retained interest in the player and are open to signing him in the near future, as they look to reinforce their ranks in the defensive unit.
Alaba, for his part, has appeared reluctant to leave Real Madrid, though. Not to mention, his departure is subject to any of the interested parties matching the club’s lofty €60 million demand.
