The casualty list at Real Madrid, more specifically the defensive department is expanding relentlessly, leaving the squad battered and bruised.
The latest victim to succumb to the onslaught of injuries is none other than Lucas Vazquez, who was confirmed by the club to have suffered an injury to the semi-tendinous muscle of his right thigh.
In addition to Daniel Carvajal, David Alaba, Eder Militao, and Ferland Mendy, Vazquez also now finds himself facing time on the sidelines.
An untimely injury
Now, Sergio Santos have come out to report the possibility of his contract extension as he has entered his final year.
As per the information, the latest injury befalls Lucas Vazquez at an untimely moment as he was going strong, having capitalized on Carvajal’s muscle injury.
Still, it will not drastically affect his chances of getting a contract extension because Real Madrid prefers to assess veterans’ situations over the last few games of the season, as is the case every year with Modric.
The 32-year-old is entering the final years of his career and thus the club are evaluating his performances meticulously. Although his recent performances have invoked optimism, his sensations toward the end of the campaign will eventually be considered.
With 20 games played, 737 minutes played, and three assists, Vazquez has recorded one goal and three assists. However, his absence now leaves Carvajal as the only option at right back.
The Spaniard will reportedly be out for at least three weeks, thus he will not be going to Riyadh with the club for the Spanish Super Cup.
Time will tell how his recovery progresses, but for now, coach Carlo Ancelotti must navigate another setback to his defensive line.
