According to writer Romain Molina, Real Madrid intends to go all hard for Kylian Mabppe in the summer of 2024, and if that fails, they would consider Erling Haaland.
“Florentino Perez wants a big name No. 9 next year,” he remarked on YouTube.
“Real Madrid intends to go all-in on Kylian Mbappe in 2024.” Plan B may be Haaland.”
Mbappe will be able to leave Paris Saint-Germain on a free transfer when his contract expires at the end of the current season.
The club was previously resolved to avoid this situation, but recent rumors indicate that their position has softened.
This change in mindset stems from the striker’s choice to forego around €100 million in loyalty incentives that would otherwise have been due to him.
Mbappe is the major target.
Mbappe seemed to be on his way to Real Madrid in 2022, but an unexpected change of heart prompted him to sign a new deal with PSG instead.
However, the Frenchman merely signed a two-year deal until 2024 with an option for a third year, and he now says he will not stay until 2025, leaving him available for free next summer.
While Real Madrid has expressly denied any talks with the Frenchman, it seems that they are keeping a close check on the situation.
Mbappe might still stay at PSG.
The only thing standing in Mbappe’s way of joining Real Madrid in 2024 is PSG’s performance in the UEFA Champions League.
PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi made a pledge to Mbappe in May 2022, promising to surround him with a powerful club that continuously strives for Champions League triumph.
However, after a poor first year of his contract, the second year, now under Luis Enrique, promises a new start and the possibility of good development.
And if that occurs, Madrid will take advantage of a provision in Haaland’s contract that allows them to sign him for between €180 and €200 million in 2024.
