While much of the focus has been around Real Madrid’s preparations for the season ahead, their reserve team RM Castilla have also begun their pre-season campaign.
Raul’s men started their campaign with a friendly game against CD Illescas at the Valdebebas, earlier today.
Castilla were the clear victors as they came out 5-1 winners against the low-level opposition. And one player who clearly stole the show on the day was Reinier Jesus.
Reinier produces a stellar display
The forgotten Real Madrid talent stepped up to the plate to score a brilliant hat-trick, helping Castilla secure a comfortable 5-1 victory.
In a game which was entirely controlled by Castilla, the reserve team went into the first half break with a 2-0 lead, thanks to goals scored by Hugo de Llanos and Gonzalo.
In the second half, it was all Reinier’s show as he scored three goals, thereby completing the riot. The Brazilian’s performance came right in front of Carlo Ancelotti, who was present in the stands.
Can Reinier make a case next season?
Reinier’s stellar performance may have certainly caught the eye of Ancelotti. But the Brazilian must produce plenty more performances if he is to make a case to become a part of the Real Madrid side next season.
The attacking midfielder returned to Bernabeu this summer on the back of a mixed loan spell at Frosinone. And unless the player makes a serious turnaround in pre-season, it is unlikely he will continue at Real Madrid.
Reinier’s current contract at Real Madrid expires in 2026, but the player is not even training with the first team. A loan move, therefore, could be the most logical outcome as the Brazilian looks to revive his career next season.
