Although the January transfer window is just around the corner, Real Madrid are likely preparing for the window next summer.
The club are expected to undergo a busy squad overhaul in the summer, with the management likely to splash the cash on multiple individuals, including Kylian Mbappe.
Real Madrid are also keen on beefing up their options in the left-back position, with Alphonso Davies emerging as a top target.
The club’s interest in Davies has led many to also believe that the management may sign a new right-back as well.
Real Madrid not looking for a right-back
However, according to a report from Sergio Santos (h/t RM4Arab), Real Madrid are not prioritising the signing of a new right-back next summer.
The Spanish giants have identified many problem areas in the squad, particularly in the attacking and defensive departments.
However, right-back is not among the problem areas, which suggests that the club are more than happy with the performances of Dani Carvajal and Lucas Vazquez.
Good news for Vazquez
Vazquez’s future, in particular, has been under the microscope lately. With the player’s contract expiring at the end of the season, many believe he could depart Bernabeu in the summer.
The 32-year-old, though, has a real chance of earning a renewal at Real Madrid. The club, after all, are happy with the performances of both him and Carvajal, in the right-back position.
It was earlier reported that Vazquez wants to continue at the Bernabeu, as he looks to complete a decade in the first team.
Real Madrid, meanwhile, have other options, too, as far as the right-back position is concerned. Those at Valdebebas are particularly hopeful of Jesus Fortea potentially breaking into the first team in the near future.
