Real Madrid are currently dealing with an injury crisis, especially in the midfield department.
The reigning European champions approached last night’s Real Sociedad game without the services of Dani Ceballos, Aurelien Tchouameni, Jude Bellingham and Eduardo Camavinga.
This apparent injury crisis forced Carlo Ancelotti to improvise a little, with Arda Guler starting in midfield against Sociedad.
Although the Turkish international did not disappoint, Real Madrid are yearning for the return of their star midfielders, as they brace themselves for a crucial period ahead.
Camavinga to return to training by next week
However, a recent report from Ramon Alvarez has offered an important update on the fitness of Eduardo Camavinga.
The journalist suggests the Frenchman could be back in training by September 23, provided everything goes to plan.
This falls in line with earlier reports which stated Camavinga could be back in action by October following his injury in the summer.
It must be noted that the midfielder may require a few weeks more to recover after returning to training. Hence, there is a fair chance he could return to action by early October.
This implies Camavinga could miss Real Madrid’s upcoming matches against Stuttgart, Espanyol and Deportivo Alaves.
But it will be interesting to see whether or not the Frenchman can return in time for Real Madrid’s league clash against Atletico Madrid on September 30.
A more realistic target, though, could be Real Madrid’s next month’s affairs against LOSC Lille in the Champions League and Villarreal in La Liga.
These are still too early days to assess Camavinga’s fitness and more details could be out in the days to come.
