Real Madrid’s negotiations with Bayern Munich for the transfer of Alphonso Davies have slowed down in recent weeks. With Copa América out of the way, talks are expected to progress rapidly.
The Canadian star is Los Blancos’ first choice to reinforce the left-back position for next season.
According to a shocking report from Christian Falk, however, Real Madrid have taken big steps towards a big-name right-back target as well in the form of Trent Alexander-Arnold of Liverpool.
The Liverpool piece
With Jürgen Klopp calling it quits at the Merseyside club, Liverpool are set for massive changes this summer. Needless to say, that could well include the departures of some well-established club heroes.
According to the German journalist, Real Madrid are hoping to capitalize on the same as they are now getting concrete with Trent Alexander-Arnold.
The 25-year-old’s current contract with the Premier League side runs until the summer of 2025, and with just one year left, there has been no extension yet.
Alexander-Arnold, moreover, is open to a move to Madrid and the two parties have been in contact for over a month. It remains to be seen if talks progress in the right direction in the coming days.
A beast in attack
Just as Real Madrid have garnered interest in Davies as a solid attacking full-back on the left, Alexander-Arnold proves a similar profile down the right.
Especially known for his vicious crosses, the youngster would be a menace at Real Madrid.
The 25-year-old has developed into one of football’s finest right-backs during his time under Klopp.
Last season, he made 28 league appearances for Liverpool, scoring one goal, providing four assists and averaging a staggering 2.3 key passes per game.
With Dani Carvajal now 32, Real Madrid must look for a long-term replacement at right-back. Not many can boast of a better profile than the Liverpool star on that front.
