For the past few months, Real Madrid has been closely monitoring the developments surrounding Alphonso Davies with a keen and opportunistic interest.
The Royal Whites’ performances this season have been nothing but exemplary, as their recent Spanish Super Cup triumph was a testament to the strength of Carlo Ancelotti’s squad.
However, Real Madrid have historically been renowned for continually raising the bar. And a position that could arguably make do with some world-class talent is the left-back spot.
As such, Real Madrid are licking their chops at the prospect of acquiring Davies, who is yet to find common ground with Bayern Munich over contract negotiations.
Real Madrid remains attentive
Indeed, as per Mundo Deportivo, the Bavarians have no intention of paying Davies twice as much as his current contract.
Davies wants to become one of the highest-paid players in the squad, demanding €13 million per season.
However, with the Canadian’s contract set to expire in June 2025, Bayern Munich also does not wish to lose him on a free transfer next year and are thus expected to place him on the market in the upcoming summer transfer window.
If talks continue to yield no outcome, with Bayern currently showcasing no desire to disrupt their wage structure for Davies, Real Madrid would be eager to pounce on the situation.
Despite the fact that Carlo Ancelotti recently backed Ferland Mendy and praised him as the finest defensive full-back in the world, Davies would infer that he has made a considerable improvement.
Real Madrid is now in a state of serenity and patience; Florentino Perez has no intention of making any actions that may potentially blow up the operation, which was intended to take place during the next season.
refusing to take the connection at risk
The evidence that has been gathered so far indicates that Real Madrid will make every attempt to get the marauding full-back; nevertheless, they will not put their relationship with Bayern Munich in jeopardy in the process itself.
Bayern will be obliged to sell the 23-year-old player if he continues to reject their offers of a contract extension until June. If this pattern continues until then, Bayern will be compelled to sell him.
At that point, Real Madrid will follow the conventional approach and negotiate a formal agreement with the German club via the regular method.
