Real Madrid left it very late to secure a victory over Deportivo Alaves last night, with Lucas Vazquez’s stoppage-time goal leading them to a 1-0 win.
The result sent Carlo Ancelotti’s men to the top of the La Liga standings heading into the Christmas break, with Girona dropping points against Real Betis.
However, there were some concerns raised in the latter stages of the game as Real Madrid, who have had poor luck with injuries, appeared to have hit with a fresh problem.
Rodrygo limps off against Alaves
Indeed, in the final stages of the match, Real Madrid forward Rodrygo went down on the pitch clutching his left knee, sending alarm bells off in the Merengues camp.
The Real Madrid medical staff immediately rushed on to attend to the Brazilian forward before he limped off the pitch visibly in pain.
When asked about the Brazilian’s situation after the game, manager Ancelotti said: “Rodrygo is a little tired.”
Given that Rodrygo has been in fine form and Vinicius Jr. is already out injured, naturally there was concern about the former’s situation.
No injury
But, according to a report from Mundo Deportivo, Real Madrid are optimistic that Rodrygo has not sustained any injury during the win against Alaves.
While it is true that he returned with a limp, Los Blancos believe that the 22-year-old is pan due to a small knock and that there is no injury.
As such, the belief is that with the appropriate rest during these days off, Rodrygo could recover completely.
This bodes well for Real Madrid given that they have a series of important fixtures lined up once the season resumes in January.
