Mundo Deportivo has revealed that Real Madrid are already in contact with Liverpool right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold as part of their plans to strengthen the squad for the 2025/26 season.
The outlet suggests that Madrid sporting management is focused on reinforcing both full-back positions, aiming to create competition for Ferland Mendy and Dani Carvajal in the starting lineup.
Two players who have caught their eye for this task are Alphonso Davies and Trent Alexander-Arnold.
Real Madrid making progress
The report indicates that the club is seriously considering the possibility of signing Alexander-Arnold and has already taken steps to initiate contact with his representatives.
At 25 years old, the Liverpool star’s contract is set to expire in 2025, and there has been no clear indication of any potential renewal on the horizon. This opens up the possibility for Real Madrid to make their move.
Meanwhile, one factor that could work in Real Madrid’s favour is the strong bond between Alexander-Arnold and Jude Bellingham.
The pair have developed a close friendship during their time together in the English national team, which could influence Alexander-Arnold’s decision to move to the Spanish capital.
In addition to Alexander-Arnold, Real Madrid are also keen on securing the services of Alphonso Davies. The Canadian full-back, currently at Bayern Munich, has been stalling contract renewal talks with the German club.
Bayern have made it clear that if Davies does not sign a new deal soon, they are willing to let him leave for free when his contract runs out. As things stand, Davies will also be free to negotiate with any club starting January 2025.
With both Alexander-Arnold and Davies potentially available in 2025, Real Madrid seem to be planning ahead, ensuring that their full-back positions are strengthened for the future.
