Following the elation that came with Real Madrid’s victory in the 15th edition of the Champions League over the weekend, supporters are now eagerly anticipating the club’s declaration about Kylian Mbappe.
It would seem that the Frenchman has struck a deal with the freshly crowned champions of Europe, and it is anticipated that he will sign a contract that is for a period of five years. The transaction is anticipated to be finalized by Real Madrid at any moment now.
The signing of Mbappe will signal the beginning of a busy summer for Real Madrid, which is likely to include the addition of players to their defensive roster as well as the strengthening of their defensive options.
To this purpose, the Spanish giants have been said to be interested in Alphonso Davies for a considerable amount of time. It was earlier in the season that it was determined that the great player for Bayern Munich would be the perfect successor for Ferland Mendy.
As a result of the Frenchman’s outstanding performances during the current season, Real Madrid has been forced to reevaluate their stance, which has therefore had an effect on the club’s efforts to acquire Davies.
Big blow for Real Madrid
Now, in a fresh blow for Real Madrid, there is a possibility Davies may end up renewing his contract at Bayern Munich.
According to Florian Plettenberg (h/t Madrid Zone), Bayern Munich are now increasingly optimistic about the prospect of renewing the contract of the left-back.
Plettenberg further adds that talks are ongoing between Bayern Munich and Alphonso Davies surrounding the contract renewal.
There are positive indications that Davies may end up renewing his deal at Allianz Arena, effectively ruling Real Madrid out of the chase.
Regarded as one of the best young full-backs in Europe, Davies was unsettled at Bayern earlier in the campaign and reportedly wanted to embark on a new adventure elsewhere.
Real Madrid emerged as a potential destination for the Canadian international. However, the Spanish giants did not make any substantial effort to sign the player and were not too keen on meeting Bayern’s hefty demands.
Davies’ current contract in Bavaria expires in 2025. And although a renewal is not official just yet, time is running out for Real Madrid, if they are eager to sign the 23-year-old in the summer.
