According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, Real Madrid are feeling very confident and optimistic about the prospect of extending Toni Kroos’ contract for at least another season.
It is to be noted that Kroos’ current deal with Real Madrid expires at the end of the season and despite multiple approaches from the team, Kroos is yet to make a final decision.
A few weeks ago, we reported that Real Madrid have prepared a formal offer for the German international, but any confirmation over a new deal is expected to be delayed, at least until the end of the season.
For now, Kroos wants to enjoy the season and despite the fact that he hasn’t said anything about his future at Real Madrid, the Los Blancos continue to stay optimistic.
“Within Real Madrid, there is optimism to keep Toni Kroos, at least for one more season,” said Romano.
“Real Madrid are confident and they are only waiting for Kroos to make his final decision about his future. They believe there is a good chance to keep him for another season,” he added.
Why are Real Madrid optimistic?
Kroos has consistently emphasized that he refuses to be overlooked by any club, especially not Real Madrid. The German midfielder desires to be appreciated and requires clear plans for his future before making any commitments.
Now, Real Madrid remain optimistic about extending his contract, particularly because Kroos has chosen to represent Germany in the UEFA Euro, indicating his intention to keep playing.
In a recent interview, he reiterated that if his body hadn’t been up to the task, he wouldn’t have returned to the national team.
“Long season at Real Madrid? Yes, but I can handle it. If I couldn’t I wouldn’t have come back. Physically I feel great,” he said.
Right now, the ball is obviously in Kroos’ court as he will decide whether he wants to continue or not.
