Real Madrid had a bad night at the Santiago Bernabeu, as they were held to a goalless draw by Rayo Vallecano. Carlo Ancelotti’s team dominated possession and opportunities but couldn’t get through the opponents’ defense. As a consequence, Los Blancos are currently second in La Liga, while Girona are the league’s surprise leaders. Who could have predicted that at the outset of the season? Nobody.
However, it was not only the missed points that worried Real Madrid after the defeat.Jude Bellingham seems to notice an issue as well.
This season, Bellingham has been Real Madrid’s talisman. As a result, the club will not want him to spend too much time on the bench.
Ancelotti revealed that the Englishman has a shoulder injury and would undergo medical testing. According to GOAL, Real Madrid said following the game:
“Bellingham has a shoulder problem.” He’ll get medical testing tomorrow. I’m hoping he can play against Braga on Wednesday.”
Real Madrid’s manager confirms Bellingham’s injury.
It remains to be seen how serious the problem is. However, given that Bellingham was able to play the whole match against Rayo Vallecano, one would expect that the ailment is minor and that he will be able to continue playing.
Real Madrid has a number of crucial games coming up. Perhaps they can afford to rest Bellingham for their next Champions League encounter against SC Braga. However, they need his services in the league after slipping behind Girona in the championship chase. Valencia, who are now ninth in the league, are their next opponents.
The reality of the matter is that Bellingham has been by far their strongest supplier of goals this season. Los Blancos will have a far more difficult time scoring without him.
