The present contracts of a number of important players at Bayern Munich are set to expire in 2025, and the club is now engaged in contract negotiations with those individuals.
In the summer, three notable players, Joshua Kimmich, Alphonso Davies, and Leroy Sane, will enter the last year of their individual contracts with the Bavarian giants. These players are all considered to be among the best in the league.
Real Madrid is reportedly eager to make a bid for Davies over the summer, while Barcelona is keeping an eye on Kimmich as they look for a new pivot player. This is a fact that has been well-established at this point.
There is a possibility that both teams may wind up competing with one another in order to get the services of another Bayern Munich superstar.
Real Madrid and Barcelona are keeping an eye on Sane.
Therefore, according to BILD (via SPORT), Real Madrid and Barcelona are both keeping a careful eye on the situation around Leroy Sane. This is because negotiations on his contract with Bayern Munich have come to a standstill.
Under the direction of Thomas Tuchel, Sane, who is 27 years old, is one of the most significant players in the Bayern setup. From a total of 24 games across all competitions, the German winger has already provided a return of nine goals and nine assists for each of his teammates so far this season.
In addition to what was said before, his contract with the Bundesliga winners will expire at the conclusion of the next season.
Bayern Munich had begun discussions with the former Manchester City striker over a contract extension; however, the conversations have come to a standstill, which has created a significant challenge for the Bavarians.
Sane does not want to renew
As per the report, Sane is not keen on signing a new contract with Bayern Munich until after the UEFA Euro 2024.
The 27-year-old is hopeful of holding out for a bigger pay packet in the summer which would be very much possible if he performs well at the European Championships that will be held in Germany this year.
A good end to the season and a solid run in the Euros would mean an increase in his value and thus he can leverage that for a larger contract.
And, in case an agreement is not reached, Bayern Munich would be forced to sell Sane, opening the door for the likes of Real Madrid and Barcelona to make a move.
It must, however, be noted that Real Madrid have Kylian Mbappe as their main target for 2024. So, whether they have a serious interest in Sane or they are just keeping tabs on the situation remains to be seen.
