Mason Greenwood has emerged as one of the success stories in La Liga this season. After 16 months without any footballing action, the attacker joined Getafe on a loan deal this past summer.
As we approach the halfway point of the season, the loan move has played out very well, with Greenwood emerging as a key attacking outlet for Getafe.
Real Madrid keeping close tabs on Greenwood
In just 13 competitive matches this season, Greenwood has racked up four goals and three assists. He is slowly settling into life at Getafe, with a fresh report from 90 Min (h/t Express), claiming that the forward is happy in Spain.
More importantly, though, the report suggests that Real Madrid are keeping close tabs on Greenwood’s progress.
It appears the Spanish giants are exploring the possibility of going after the Englishman, who was once regarded as one of the most promising talents in the Premier League.
Real Madrid, though, are not alone in the race to sign Greenwood. The Manchester United star is also courted by Atletico Madrid and Barcelona. Even Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund are keeping tabs on the attacker.
Manchester United open to sale
Despite Greenwood’s steady redemption at Getafe, Manchester United have made their mind up about the Englishman.
The Premier League giants will look to cash in on the player before his contract at Old Trafford expires in 2025.
Given the way Greenwood has performed at Getafe, it could be likely that he will prolong his stay in La Liga, especially with Real Madrid, Barcelona and Atleti interested in his services.
However, Greenwood’s controversial past will remain an issue, at least as far as the fans are concerned, which in turn, should raise question marks on whether or not Real Madrid should go after the star.
