After years of the transfer saga, it looks like Kylian Mbappe and Real Madrid are finally closing in on an agreement. Of course, if there is one thing we have learned over the years, it is to take nothing for granted. The Frenchman had looked destined for Santiago Bernabeu back in 2022 as well but ended up signing a contract extension with PSG out of nowhere.
It was not a long-term one though. In fact, it is set to run out in the summer and Real Madrid are believed to be interested in signing Mbappe as a free agent.
Of course, the possibility of Mbappe signing another extension cannot be completely ruled out. On the other hand, Liverpool’s name has emerged in the rumour mill in recent weeks as a possible destination for the French World Cup winner.
But as tweeted by Sports Zone, negotiations between Real Madrid and Mbappe’s representatives have resulted in an agreement in principle. Before definitively validating everything, the Frenchman wants to hear the arguments of PSG. Los Blancos have offered him the number 10.
Real Madrid and Mbappe close to agreement
To be very honest, Mbappe could do with a change in teams right now. Over the past few years, his career at the club level has stagnated a bit without a doubt.
The likes of Erling Haaland and Jude Bellingham appear to have moved ahead of him in the Ballon d’Or race. Of course, Mbappe has the chance to turn everything around, if he ends up joining a club like Real Madrid.
It would without doubt be the biggest transfer in world football since arguably Cristiano Ronaldo’s move to Real Madrid from Manchester United back in 2009. Let’s see whether it materialises this time or not. The likes of Haaland and Victor Osimhen have been suggested as alternatives for Los Blancos.
