According to a report from Mundo Deportivo, Real Madrid forward Alvaro Rodriguez is facing a significant decision about his future amidst considerable interest from various clubs.
The 20-year-old striker is expected to leave Real Madrid this summer due to the lack of opportunities to break into the first team. As a result, the club has decided to put him up for sale.
Rodriguez has had a brief taste of first-team action, having made ten appearances and scored once.
However, his involvement with the senior squad was minimal this past season, spending most of his time playing for Castilla, where he managed to score ten goals in 34 matches.
With no immediate prospects of joining the main squad, Real Madrid have decided to allow Rodriguez to move on this summer.
There is plenty of interest
The report highlights that there is substantial interest in the player, with multiple clubs keen on securing his services.
Up to three Spanish clubs and two from abroad have inquired about the young forward. Among the Spanish teams, Alaves have shown the most interest.
Espanyol, having returned to the top flight, have also expressed interest in the player’s situation, as have Real Sociedad, who have even contacted Rodriguez’s representatives.
Outside of Spain, two clubs from the Bundesliga have shown serious interest. Wolfsburg were the first to make an inquiry, followed closely by RB Leipzig, which will be competing in the Champions League in the 2024-2025 season.
Real Madrid hold the cards
One of the critical factors in determining Rodriguez’s future destination will be the financial terms of the transaction.
Real Madrid are reportedly starting with a minimum asking price of €5 million, which could rise to €11 million depending on the negotiations.
Additionally, they are keen on retaining a significant percentage of any future sale. They are looking to keep 50% of the player’s rights, a condition that might influence the final agreement.
Clubs like RB Leipzig, however, are interested in keeping a larger percentage, around 70%, of any future sale. This could result in a higher initial transfer fee, as the clubs negotiate the terms of ownership.
The complexities of these financial negotiations suggest that Rodriguez’s transfer could become one of the more intriguing deals of the summer.
