Former Real Madrid and Liverpool star Michael Owen has handed a piece of advice to Trent Alexander-Arnold, involving his Real Madrid transfer.
There are a few players who have played for both Real Madrid and Liverpool. Chances are, Michael Owen isn’t the first name who springs to mind.
This is because the England striker was overshadowed by other incredible stars during the Galacticos era of Real Madrid. While he played well, he is mostly known for his tenure in English football.
That said, Real Madrid fans have recently been reminded of Michael Owen, for all the right reasons. Rumour has it, the pundit has handed a useful piece of advice to Trent Alexander-Arnold, which relates to his Real Madrid transfer situation.
Michael Owen gives Real Madrid transfer advice to Trent Alexander-Arnold
According to Liverpool.com, Michael Owen has addressed the potential of Trent Alexander-Arnold leaving Liverpool to join Real Madrid. He claimed that Liverpool fans shouldn’t take it personally if Trent signs for Real Madrid.
In his own words, Owen said: “If Trent leaves, it’s not because he hates Liverpool. When I left Liverpool [to join Real Madrid], it’s not because I hated Liverpool, it’s because that might be something that I’ll regret if I don’t try it.”
Owen then handed this advice to Trent Alexander-Arnold: “If you’re not really interested in seeing a different side of the football in terms of playing in a different country, different team, etc then stay at Liverpool all your life because you’re not going to get any better anywhere else.”
Real Madrid are unlikely to be concerned about this. If they are to face competition to sign Trent Alexander-Arnold, it won’t be from Premier League clubs.
The culture is different in England, whereby selling key players to league rivals is not common. It was in the past but there have been no huge examples of this in recent times.
Real Madrid fans hope that Trent Alexander-Arnold takes a leaf out of Michael Owen’s book, instead of listening to his words. After all, Owen himself made the move directly from Liverpool to Real Madrid.
