Real Madrid have recently taken it upon themselves to deny rumours linking them with a move for Kylian Mbappe.
This comes at a time when speculation has been rampant regarding Real Madrid potentially signing the PSG superstar on a free transfer in 2024.
Not to mention, Mbappe was even reported to be set to wear the number ten shirt at Santiago Bernabeu and potentially earn a salary of €35 million next season.
Real Madrid, though, denied having any negotiations with Mbappe, distancing themselves from the speculations.
Mbappe remains Real Madrid’s top focus
Amid all this drama, Fabrizio Romano has offered a key update on Mbappe’s transfer saga.
The reliable transfer expert suggests that Real Madrid are still keeping Mbappe as their top priority for the summer of 2024.
Despite the recent statement, the club’s conviction to sign the PSG forward on a free transfer has not changed, and he continues to be their biggest dream for next year.
The club, after all, are desperately seeking a new striker who can lead the frontline alongside Vinicius Jr.
Real Madrid want to be discreet
Apart from this update, Fabrizio Romano also claims that Real Madrid want to keep things discreet at the moment. The club do not want to create any problems between Mbappe and PSG.
It was a key reason why the Spanish giants came up with the statement in the first place. The tone of the statement also conveyed a similar sentiment.
Nevertheless, Real Madrid’s focus is to sign the Frenchman on a free transfer next summer. With Mbappe’s contract expiring at the end of the season, the club want the player to make a decision on his future in the coming months.
Should Mbappe decide to end things at PSG, he would be eligible to sign a pre-contract agreement in the upcoming January transfer window.
