Luka Modric’s own time at Real Madrid looks set to come to an end soon. He turned 39 years old last week and is certainly in the twilight of his career. Whether he retires at Santiago Bernabeu, like Toni Kroos, or chooses to take on another challenge in the future remains to be seen. But it is quite clear that he will have the club’s best interests at heart.
Modric is still part of the Croatian national team setup as well. And it looks like he would like for Real Madrid to sign one of his international teammates, who has been making waves back in his homeland.
As reported by Defensa Central (via The Hard Tackle), Martin Baturina is the subject of interest from Manchester United. However, Modric wants Real Madrid to sign the Croatian playmaker in the 2025 summer transfer window.
Baturina currently plays for Dinamo Zagreb and despite being 21 years of age, he has already made over 100 appearances for them. He also has made a handful of appearances for the Croatian national team. So, Modric has had the chance to see him play up close and must have been impressed with what he saw.

The problem is, Real Madrid are absolutely stacked in that area of the pitch. Jude Bellingham, Brahim Diaz and Arda Guler can all play that role.
So, it is hard to see them bringing in another playmaker. And even if they end up doing so, it would be very tough for Baturina to get any significant playing time at Real Madrid.
That being said, not many youngsters have gone to Manchester United and ended up succeeding in recent years. So, Baturina must weigh up his next step properly, if he is to have a successful career in a top-five league.
