Real Madrid have some key decisions to make in the summer transfer window. Given that they are the biggest club in the world with their best squad in a long time, it should be expected that big clubs will come knocking for their players. One club who isn’t giving up on their pursuit for a Real Madrid player is Liverpool.
Under new management in Arne Slot, Liverpool are keen to turn their fortunes around and having been missing from the title chase in the last two seasons, they would like to return to haunt Man City. The only way this can be achieved, though, is through clever recruitment in the transfer window, hence their eye on Real Madrid.
Liverpool make contact over transfer for Real Madrid standout
According to a report from Marca, Liverpool have made contact over the potential signing of Arda Guler from Real Madrid. It is believed that Liverpool would like to learn more about his situation, both from a personal perspective but more importantly, from Real Madrid’s perspective.
And the report believes Liverpool already have their answer from Real Madrid, which doesn’t come as too much of a surprise. Real Madrid see Arda Guler as untouchable, so they will not entertain any transfer speculation for the young player, even despite the concern about his game time for the 2024/25 season.
Next season will be a real test for Arda Guler. After a slow start to life at the Santiago Bernabeu stadium, he finally picked up some minutes in 2024 and he proved to Carlo Ancelotti that he is worthy of contention. Despite making just four Liga starts last season, Guler provided six goals, proving that he is a clinical forward.
His form has continued into international duty, as he is currently catching attention from huge clubs due to his performances for Turkey. He scored a screamer goal as he curled the ball into the top corner from distance. Everybody was shocked except Real Madrid fans, who have known for a while that he possesses this kind of quality.
Next season, though, Guler will be in competition for places with the usual Vinicius Junior and Rodrygo but also new arrivals Endrick and Kylian Mbappe.
For Guler, transfer talk involving his name is nothing new. In fact, in the 2023 summer transfer window, he was the talk of the town as it seemed likely he would join FC Barcelona. However, a late hijack from Real Madrid saw him pack his bags for the capital instead. A move which he isn’t likely to regret.
