Real Madrid faced Girona today at the Santiago Bernabeu in a game that might decide La Liga for the remainder of the season.
Carlo Ancelotti depended on Aurelien Tchouameni and Daniel Carvajal in central defense since his squad lacked four first-team centre-backs. Meanwhile, Lucas Vazquez and Ferland Mendy served as fullbacks.
Despite this, Madrid looked their best and dominated Girona, scoring twice in the first half via Vinicius Jr and Jude Bellingham.
Both players utterly dominated the game, with the latter adding another in the second half and the former assisting Rodrygo on the fourth.
Unfortunately, Bellingham had to be replaced just before Rodrygo’s goal due to an apparent ankle injury.
The 20-year-old fell inside the box, injuring his ankle, and was seen hobbling and battling with agony many times during the game. In fact, he scored his second goal while hobbling.
Madrid will play RB Leipzig in the Champions League round of 16 this week, and they will be praying that Bellingham’s injury does not jeopardize their season.
