Real Madrid has been dealt an unlucky hand with injuries this season. Absentees in all departments of the season have forced coach Carlo Ancelotti to avail creative solutions.
However, the Merengues can finally let out a sigh of relief with reports from Carlos Rodriguez claiming that one of their star men in midfield, Aurélien Tchouaméni is back and will be on the squad list against Villareal this Sunday.
Real Madrid regains a crucial player
Tchouameni endured a foot fracture during Los Blancos‘ match against Barcelona in the most recent Clasico, and since then he has been sidelined with an injury for more than a month.
The 23-year-old was predicted to miss all of 2023’s games due to the likelihood that he would be out for at least two months.
However, the Frenchman has made a rapid recovery and will be available this weekend at the Santiago Bernabeu.
Having also lost key players like Vinicius Jr. and Eduardo Camavinga to injuries in recent times, Real Madrid is given a great advantage with the imminent return of Tchouameni, who was in fine form before suffering the blow to his foot.
The 23-year-old’s return will especially enable Ancelotti to field a set-up with a natural defensive midfielder instead of employing make-shift remedies, like the double pivot of Toni Kroos and Fede Valverde.
However, it remains to be seen whether Tchouameni will instantly return to the starting XI or gradually be eased in.
Due to the prolonged period he faced out on the sidelines, it is likely that he will initially earn some minutes off the bench against the Yellow Submarine.
