The injuries to Thibaut Courtois and Eder Militao served as a major blow for Real Madrid at the start of the season, with both players picking up serious knocks early on in the summer.
Since then, both players have spent time on the sidelines, trying to recover from their long-term knocks, thus forcing Carlo Ancelotti to operate with limited personnel.
However, as we approach February, it does appear that both Courtois and Militao are gradually finishing their recovery process.
Courtois updates on his fitness
Thibaut Courtois, for his part, has issued a key update on his fitness. He posted a video of him training at the Valdebebas on social media platform X.
It appears the Belgian has already started working on the ball, which is a major positive for Real Madrid.
The Spanish giants have had to make do with Kepa Arrizabalaga and Andriy Lunin as their main goalkeepers, in the absence of Courtois.
Carlo Ancelotti hopeful of Courtois & Militao’s early return
The video update from Courtois comes on the back of Carlo Ancelotti revealing his optimism regarding the return of not just the Belgian goalkeeper but also Eder Militao.
As per Ancelotti (h/t Mundo Deportivo), both Courtois and Militao could make their return to the pitch before the end of the season.
As we approach February, both players have been out for six months now, Ancelotti highlighted. He pointed out that these kinds of injuries take around eight to nine months, which is why the Real Madrid coach of hopeful of having the duo back before the season ends.
“Both have options to play games this season. His recoveries are going very well. The medical staff does not want to force them but they are very well,” Ancelotti said.
“They are training on the field at an individual level. In February they are out for six months and these types of injuries last between six, eight and ten months and I believe that both of them will recover before the end of the season,” he added.
