Real Madrid have confirmed the arrival of Kylian Mbappe on a free transfer from Paris Saint-Germain and the attacker will join Carlo Ancelotti’s side in the coming months.
His official presentation as a new Galactico will be delayed until July as he is still contractually bound to the French institution. Yet, that will not matter much to the club and fans after the official announcement of the deal.
Mbappe’s arrival, for long, was Florentino Perez’s biggest dream as the club president believed that the biggest club in the sport must house the best in the business.
According to reports from Defensa Central, Perez is still surprised at the quality of the player coming in.
Better than Ronaldo?
Mbappe is undoubtedly one of Real Madrid’s biggest transfers of all time and it is not surprising that he is being compared to Cristiano Ronaldo.
The Real Madrid president, however, is reportedly amazed that the Frenchman’s numbers are superior to Ronaldo’s numbers at the time of his move to Madrid.
The Portuguese superstar was 24 years of age when he arrived in Madrid and had played 323 games to that point. In that duration, he had 123 goals and 65 assists to his name.
Mbappe, meanwhile, has played 368 games so far and is 25 years of age. In that duration, he has scored a staggering 288 goals and has 126 assists, close to double of Ronaldo’s numbers in both respects.
All eyes on the Euros
Mbappe will join Real Madrid after the European Championships as he leads Les Bleus from the front.
The French National team finished as the runners-up in 2016 before facing an unexpected defeat to Switzerland in the Round of 16 four years later.
Heading into the event this year, they are one of the favourites to go all the way after finishing runners-up in the FIFA World Cup two years ago.
The World Cup Golden Boot winner, Mbappe, will undoubtedly have pressure on his shoulders through this month. He has, however, shown in the past that he is capable of shouldering the same.
