- Eduardo Camavinga, Vinicius Junior & Rodrygo have all extended their contracts with Real Madrid this season
- Valverde has now put pen to paper on fresh terms until 2029
- Centre-back Eder Militao is next in line for an extension
Federico Valverde, the midfielder for Real Madrid, has signed a new deal at the Santiago Bernabeu.
As 90min reported last month, Valverde agreed to new terms as part of a significant contract push that has seen a number of prominent talents sign new contracts in recent weeks.
Vinicius Junior, Rodrygo, and Eduardo Camavinga have all extended their contracts, and now Valverde has followed suit by agreeing to a new contract that will keep him at Real Madrid until 2029.
90min understands that Carlo Ancelotti’s team will sign a new deal with centre-back Eder Militao. In principle, an agreement has been negotiated with the Brazilian, whose current contract ends in 2025.
Valverde was the subject of interest from a number of Premier League clubs this summer when Madrid signed Jude Bellingham, with Liverpool, Chelsea, and Manchester City all expecting that the acquisition of the Englishman would make Valverde available for sale.
However, neither Real Madrid nor Valverde were interested in indulging the interest, and he remains an important cog in the team’s midfield.
Indeed, Valverde has stated his intention to take over as captain of Real Madrid in the near future.
When asked whether he wanted to wear the armband, he said, “Of course.” “I believe that was a dream I had.”
“I’d like to be that figure that [Dani] Carvajal is now, as well as all the captains, [Luka] Modric and [Toni] Kroos.” I try to observe them and learn as much as I can about what they do. Being captain of Uruguay was one of the most wonderful experiences I’ve ever had, and I’d want to do it again with Real Madrid.”
