Florian Wirtz has been creating a lot of waves in the Bundesliga, and he has been an essential part of Bayer Leverkusen’s remarkable start to the current season.
The dynamic talent, who is 20 years old, has made 19 appearances this season and has delivered a return of six goals and 10 assists in all competitions. This makes him one of the most outstanding performances in Europe.
A number of the best teams in Europe, including Real Madrid, Manchester City, United, and Liverpool, have taken notice of the German international player due to his recent performance and his potential.
For quite some time, Real Madrid has been keeping an eye on Wirtz.
In light of the fact that Real Madrid has been keeping an eye on the German prodigy for some time now, the club’s interest in Wirtz is not something that is completely unfamiliar.
In point of fact, recent sources have stated that Wirtz is only one of three players from Leverkusen who Los Blancos are keeping an eye on. The other two players are Jeremie Frimpong and Victor Boniface.
The fact that Wirtz’s contract is set to expire in 2027 and that the Bundesliga club places a value of about 120 million euros on him makes it very difficult to make any kind of transfer for him.
Wirtz’s father shuts down exit talks
Given the current circumstances, it would seem that Wirtz’s father-cum-agent has eliminated any potential of a summer transfer coming his way.
In point of fact, Hans-Joachim Wirtz, the father of the Leverkusen wonderkid, provided the following statement in a recent interview with Sky Sport Germany (with thanks to Florian Plettenberg):
At the moment, everything is focused around Florian continuing to play for Leverkusen in the next season.
Plettenberg goes on to say that as things now stand, Wirtz will remain at Bayer Leverkusen for the next season, and that a move is expected to take place in 2025, with Bayern Munich emerging as serious competitors for his signature.
