At the end of Real Madrid’s win over Villarreal, Dani Carvajal left the pitch in tears. The Spain international suffered a horrible knee injury, which forced him to leave the field on a stretcher.
Watching any player suffer an injury of this magnitude is never nice. However, it is especially disheartening to a club’s morale when that player is a captain.
Since it is now the October international break, it remains to be seen when Dani Carvajal will return to action. What can be said for sure, is that Dani Carvajal will not represent Spain on international duty.

Dani Carvajal has suffered a serious injury to his knee. According to Real Madrid, Dani Carvajal is diagnosed with a ruptured ACL, a ruptured external collateral ligament and a ruptured popliteus tendon in his right leg.
In their own words, Real Madrid said in a statement: “Following tests carried out on Dani Carvajal by the Real Madrid Medical Services, the player has been diagnosed with a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament, a ruptured external collateral ligament and a ruptured popliteus tendon in his right leg. He will undergo surgery in the coming days.”
When will Dani Carvajal return from injury?
There is no return date set for Dani Carvajal. However, judging by similar injuries to Dani Carvajal’s in the past, Real Madrid fans can anticipate Carvajal missing the rest of this season.
Carlo Ancelotti does not yet know when to expect Dani Carvajal back in action. However, the Italian boss did claim that “Dani Carvajal has suffered a serious knee injury. We’re all very sad”
Who can replace Dani Carvajal at Real Madrid?
As things stand, the only senior option who can replace Dani Carvajal is Lucas Vazquez.
Both players are well experienced, with Vazquez often playing second-fiddle to Dani Carvajal. Now that the preferred choice is ruled out, Vazquez will be the trusted option at Real Madrid.
There is a possibility that Real Madrid could sign a player in the January transfer window. They are currently linked with Trent Alexander-Arnold, but they have alternatives lined up too.
Will Dani Carvajal be available for Fantasy Football?
