Real Madrid defeated RCD Mallorca by a score of 1-0 at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium thanks to a goal scored by Antonio Rudiger. Dani Carvajal, who had returned to the club, helped lead Real Madrid to victory.
Due to the fact that the match remained scoreless until the 77th minute, it seemed as if the current leaders of the league would have a tough time of it, and it appeared as though they would lose vital points.
Rudiger, however, stepped up to the plate and powered a header into the back of the goal from Luka Modric’s corner kick. This not only propelled his club to victory, but it also ensured that they would remain at the top of the league after 19 matches in La Liga.
During his post-match press conference, Carvajal, the captain of the team, expressed his admiration for Rudiger, a fellow defender, and said that Rudiger earned the moment because of his outstanding performances in previous matches.
“It was well earned, as he has been playing some outstanding games. I had the opportunity to see it personally; I stopped him and watched him enter. Collaboration,” Carvajal said.
The right-back continued by saying, “It’s always a difficult game after the holidays,” as he analyzed the contest as a whole. Mallorca played a really strong game from a tactical standpoint, and they were quite active in defense. Just as in Vitoria, the set piece was the one that won for us.
When Carvajal was questioned about another set-piece that may gift them a victory, like as against Alaves, he responded by saying, “It’s key, making it three in three, like against Alavés, keeps you in the lead.”
Real Madrid was able to keep yet another clean sheet despite the fact that they were without its three defensive pillars, who are Eder Militao, David Alaba, and Thibaut Courtois. They have only allowed 11 goals to be scored against them in La Liga thus far this season.
Carvajal made the following statement in reference to the defensive strength of the club: “That speaks for the work that the team has put in.” Because of the large number of absentees, the squad is doing their very best, and that number reflects that.
When the defender was finally asked to provide his evaluation on the first half of the season, he said, “We’ll probably go out as leaders.” A tremendous amount of points in the first half of the season is 48. When the second half of the season rolls around, we will be working at surpassing it.
