Real Madrid dropped two vital points on Saturday night after a disappointing draw to Real Betis in Seville. The game was far from as bland as the result suggests with both parties having their fair share of chances.
However, it ended on level terms after both teams repeatedly erred in the face of goal.
Jude Bellingham opened the scoring for Los Blancos in the 53rd minute of the night, giving his side the initiative against the hosts. However, an unstoppable golazo from a distance was all it took for Los Verdiblancos to strike back.
Speaking to the media after his team’s 1-1 draw at Benito Villamarin, Carlo Ancelotti did not show much repentance over the dropped points. Speaking about the game and the events that unfolded on the field, the manager said,
“I don’t know if Modric was angry. It was a good match for both sides. We conceded a goal even though we were in control, but Betis did not deserve to lose.”
“We are satisfied with the match, it was good. We were disciplined, but they made it difficult for us because they played very well in my opinion. It is a difficult stadium, but now we have to think about the next matches,” he added.
The Italian tactician also expended his complete support for, and praised, Andriy Lunin who started in goal on the night deservedly.
“Lunin performed well today, and showed the required confidence and character,” he said about the in-form shot-stopper.
When asked about the two vital points dropped, the Real Madrid manager maintained and emphasised that even the best teams have their ups and downs.
“Things may not always go the way we want. It was a perfect match, full of mistakes and successes. We have to maintain our stability, this is a good thing and continue the good team dynamic.”
Commenting on Real Betis’ equaliser on the night which was made possible only through a rocket strike from the boot of Aitor Ruibal from over 25 yards out.
“They scored a great goal, which resulted in a draw. I am satisfied because it is difficult to win every game.”
“The goal they scored was amazing and I left the field satisfied with the performance. If you want me not to say I am satisfied, I can’t say that. I am happy at this point,” Ancelotti concluded.
