Real Madrid’s season ended on a sour note on Sunday night when they were defeated by city rivals Atletico Madrid in the Madrid derby at the Civitas Metropolitano. The final score was 3-1 in favor of Atletico Madrid.
The Rojiblancos defeated the Merengues for the first time in the 2023–2024 season after former striker Alvaro Morata scored a brace for his team, and Antoine Griezmann also found the back of the net for the Rojiblancos.
Real Madrid may have a right to feel aggrieved by some of the calls made by the referee on the night in question, but the reality is that their performance at the Metropolitano was not good enough to earn them all three points.
Ancelotti continues to enjoy the support and faith of Real Madrid.
According to Jose Felix Diaz, who reports for RM4Arab, despite the disappointing performance and outcome, Real Madrid’s management team continues to have full and total confidence in Carlo Ancelotti.
Concerns had been raised regarding the player lineup that the manager decided to field for the derby match against Atletico Madrid.
After all, the Italian decided to switch up their strategy by inserting Luka Modric into the starting lineup and taking Joselu out of the starting lineup.
Toni Kroos was selected for the starting lineup instead of Aurelien Tchouameni, despite the fact that Tchouameni has been one of the team’s most consistent performers this year.
Ancelotti’s selection of players showed that he is not yet ready to trust Real Madrid’s next-generation midfield for the important games, despite the fact that the Real Madrid hierarchy wants the manager to do so.
In spite of the fact that there are some disagreements, the board continues to have complete faith in Ancelotti.
Ancelotti has taken responsibility for the loss.
Real Madrid turned in an underwhelming performance in what was arguably the most important match of the 2023–2024 season up to that point, and manager Carlo Ancelotti took full responsibility for the team’s loss in postgame comments.
“Perhaps I could have done a better job of it. It is not hard to understand. It is my responsibility whenever the team falls short of what it needs to accomplish. “I am to blame for it,” Ancelotti stated.
Real Madrid can now turn their attention to putting together a powerful comeback performance when they take on Las Palmas later this week. The game is now over and Real Madrid has won.
