With the Kylian Mbappe transfer saga in its final chapter, Real Madrid are focusing their energies on landing Alphonso Davies from Bayern Munich.
But the task is not proving to be easy as the Bundesliga champions are not giving up without a fight and are continuing to try and convince him to renew his contract.
Davies’ current deal runs out in 2025, meaning he will enter the final year of his contract this summer. So far, negotiations over an extension have not yielded the desired result, but Bayern refuse to throw in the towel.
Meeting held, but no agreement
As such, Mario Cortegana reports that Bayern Munich executives held a meeting with Alphonso Davies’ agent to negotiate a new contract this past Tuesday.
However, despite fresh talks taking place, there is still no agreement in place between the two parties over a renewal.
And, the report states that if no progress is made in the coming days, both parties will soon start working towards finding a way out for the left-back.
As has already been reported, Davies is holding out for gross wages of €20 million per season, but the latest offer from Bayern Munich only reaches €14 million.
Should the situation not change, the Bavarian giants will be forced to make a decision – either sell him this summer or risk losing him for nothing in 2025, and they are likely to opt for the first one.
Real Madrid will not spend over the top
While Real Madrid have Davies as one of their top targets for the summer, they do not plan on spending too much on his acquisition.
As reported earlier, there is no way that Los Blancos would be willing to meet Bayern Munich’s €70 million asking price for the 23-year-old left-back, given his contract situation.
