Vinicius Jr. is one of Real Madrid’s most dangerous final-third players. Playing on the left flank, he is capable of bringing down even the greatest defenders in the world and influencing the game on his own.
However, due to the absence of an aggressive full-back, his effect on the flank is significantly muted. The addition of Fran Garcia somewhat compensated for the gap, but there is still a clear need for a new aggressive left-back.
Davies is the one.
As has been widely reported in recent months, Real Madrid’s prime left-back target is Bayern Munich’s Alphonso Davies. They are aware, however, that signing him away from the Bavarians is easier said than done.
Real Madrid considers Davies a key goal and plans to pursue him next summer. Fortunately for them, the player is also interested in moving to Spain and has made touch with Los Blancos, according to Kerry Hau.
Davies’ contract in Germany expires in the summer of 2025, and Bayern would want to extend it as soon as possible. However, no discussions have yet taken place, and it is possible that this is part of Real Madrid’s strategy.
According to reports, the Merengues are requesting that their transfer targets forgo renewal offers and instead seek free transfers at the conclusion of their contracts. If Davies does not extend his contract with Bayern, they aim to sign him for a modest amount next summer.
Lethal down the left
The 23-year-old full-back has been a regular starter for the Bavarians this season, starting ten times in the Bundesliga and aggregating three assists in the process.
He also averages 1.6 key passes, over five defensive actions and a staggering three defensive actions per game.
Davies is a player tailor-made for the counter-attacking game, and with his pace, can revolutionise Real Madrid’s playing style. Further, he could be the key that takes Vinicius Jr to even greater heights.
