Working as efficiently as ever, Real Madrid identified the various areas of concerns for them on the pitch during the season that need to be reinforced during the 2024 summer transfer window.
Kylian Mbappe’s signing is one of the moves they are looking to complete in the coming weeks. His departure from PSG is as good as finalised, with coach Luis Enrique wishing him the best for the future in a recent press conference.
Also dissatisfied with the left-backs in the team, Madrid will also push for a move to sign a player in that position in the summer, with none other than Bayern Munich’s Alphonso Davies their priority target.
Bayern Munich set asking price
With his contract expiring in 2025, Real Madrid have been clear about their spending limit on Davies, earmarked at a maximum of €50 million.
And as it seems, Madrid definitely have all the upper hand in the upcoming negotiations.
Florian Plettenberg has reported that should Davies choose not to renew his contract with Bayern, they will be hoping to get around €50-60 million for him in the summer to avoid losing him for free next season.
As it stands, Davies and Bayern are quite far apart in terms of extension talks, largely due to the €20 million salary demanded by the Canadian.
The Bavarians are not ready to pay that kind of money to the left-back, and would presumably rather offload him early so they can look for a replacement.
The Miguel Gutierrez question
Now, interestingly, Real Madrid are also reportedly considering signing back Castilla-graduate left-back Miguel Gutierrez.
The Spaniard is currently at Girona, but Madrid have a €8 million buy-back clause in his contract.
This could likely mean the end of the tenure for two of Ferland Mendy, Fran Garcia, and Gutierrez, but Madrid’s intention seems unclear right now.
Initial reports have claimed that the Girona defender will only agree to come back if he gets a shot with the first-team.
Bayern have also been linked with a move for Gutierrez, though. And if Madrid play their cards right, they could include the 22-year-old in a player-plus-cash swap deal to bring down the price for Davies.
Only time will tell, though.
