Real Madrid have already been linked heavily with one Bayern Munich player in the form of Alphonso Davies. The Canadian full-back joining the Spanish club is starting to feel inevitable, although, when that move will take place remains to be seen. On the other hand, it looks like one of their midfielders is interested in donning the iconic Royal White jersey as well.
Not too long ago, Leon Goretzka was considered one of the top midfielders in world football. It would be safe to say that his stock has fallen quite a bit in recent times.
Now, his future at Bayern Munich seems uncertain and an exit is quite likely. Although, where he will end up if he were to leave, remains unclear. But Goretzka does seem to have his eyes on a few clubs, including Real Madrid.
As tweeted by Florian Plettenberg, the MLS doesn’t appeal to Goretzka yet, even though there is interest from there. If anything, he is interested in Real Madrid, Barcelona, Liverpool, and maybe one to three other teams.
Bayern Munich midfielder interested in joining Real Madrid
A few years back, most top clubs would jump at the chance to sign someone like Goretzka. But these days, that might not be the case.
Goretzka is 29 years of age now. His performances in recent times have not been great either. There is a chance though that he could rediscover his best with a change of scenery.
As for Real Madrid, they have rarely signed experienced players in recent years unless available as free agents or on loan. Toni Kroos did retire at the end of last season though. Why not replace him with another German midfielder? It is very likely that Bayern Munich would be open to letting Goretzka move for a bargain transfer fee this summer.
