- Bayern Munich are seeking to tie Davies to new contract
- Left-back has been strongly linked with Real Madrid as current deal expires in 2025
- Talks between Bayern & Canadian yet to yield an agreement on wages
Bayern Munich have offered left-back Alphonso Davies substantially less wages than he has asked for as they attempt to tie the Real Madrid target to a new contract, according to reports.
There are less than eighteen months remaining on Davies’ current contract, which he signed in April 2020. This was before he had won the Champions League with Bayern and established himself as one of the finest players in the world in his position.
According to a report by Sky Sport Germany, Bayern Munich has made a proposal to the 23-year-old Canadian international player that would give him a gross yearly salary of between 11 million and 13 million euros, which is equal to up to 250,000 euros (or 213,000 pounds) each week, and would span the period of time until 2029.
On the other hand, when it comes to talks, the two sides are ‘a long way apart’ since Davies is reportedly asking for twenty million euros every season. Furthermore, Bayern Munich seems to be opposed to honoring such requests, and it is speculated that they would call the player’s bluff and allow him to engage in negotiations with Real Madrid instead if he is adamant about obtaining such a number.
The news that Davies was eager to talk new terms with Bayern Munich was disclosed by 90min back in November. However, Davies is looking for a pay that he believes is commensurate with his world-class level of performance.
A number of clubs, including Manchester City, Liverpool, Chelsea, and Paris Saint-Germain, have shown interest in Davies. However, they are of the opinion that he is adamant about joining Real Madrid, and they are skeptical about their ability to convince him to change his mind in the event that he decides to leave Munich.
In terms of the transfer cost, a recent rumor from Spain claims that Madrid would not be prepared to spend more than €40 million (£34 million) on Davies. This is a significant amount less than Bayern’s asking price, which is estimated to be approximately €60 million (£51 million) in Germany.
Despite the fact that it is commonly anticipated that Madrid will also spend a significant amount of money this summer on a financial package for Kylian Mbappe, it may still be regarded a bargain given the player’s skill, age, and long-term potential to grow even better.
