Both Arsenal and Real Madrid are interested in signing Endrick’s former teammate. In fact, both sides have made inquiries.
Throughout the summer, there was plenty of discourse surrounding Arsenal and Real Madrid competing in the transfer window. Well, it could continue to be the case in the future.
As two clubs with similar amibitions, to strengthen for the future and compete at the highest level, it is natural that some players will fall on both radars. It’s no surprise that this is the case yet again.
Also, there will be no prizes for guessing which nationality the player in question is, given Arsenal’s and Real Madrid’s fascination with the nation’s great footballing ability.
Arsenal lock horns with Real Madrid to sign Endrick’s teammate
According to a report from The Athletic, Arsenal and Real Madrid are both interested in signing Vitor Reis from Palmeiras. Both sides have made initial inquiries but no formal approach has been made.
Vitor Reis is an 18-year-old centre back who plays for Endrick’s former side Palmeiras. In fact, the two players came through the academy together and even spent time in the first time since 2024.
Real Madrid have a great Brazilian core of players. In fact, some of their best players including Eder Militao, Vinicius Junior and Rodrygo are Brazilian. Not to mention the future star Endrick.
That said, Arsenal sporting director Edu Gaspar is a former Brazilian international himself. He is an expert in the field of Brazilian football, hence the acquisition of Gabriel Magalhaes, Gabriel Jesus and Gabriel Martinelli.
It makes sense that Real Madrid will pursue a young centre-back signing. Currently, their youngest option at centre-back is Eder Militao, who is now approaching the prime stage of his career.
Other than Militao, Real Madrid’s options at centre-back are ageing. Antonio Rudiger and David Alaba (injured) are not getting any younger, so strengthening for the future is in Real’s best interest.
There is a sense that Real Madrid are impossible to defeat in the transfer window. However, this myth was busted in the summer, when Man United swooped into sign Leny Yoro instead of Real.
So, Real Madrid must learn from this. If they are already aware of interest from Arsenal, it should spur them on to push forward with their formal movements.
